Technology Assessments

Find out where you actually stand

A defined, fixed-fee review of one part of your environment, delivered as a written report with prioritised findings you own.

  • Fixed scope and fee
  • Written report
  • Prioritised findings
  • No obligation to implement

Overview

The lowest-risk way to start working with us

An assessment is a contained engagement. We look at a defined area, document what we find, rank the findings by risk and effort, and hand you a report. There is no requirement to have us implement anything.

It is also the most useful thing to do before a large decision. Refresh or migrate, insource or outsource, buy the security product or fix the configuration — all of those benefit from a documented current-state position rather than an assumption.

Findings are written for two audiences: an executive summary that a non-technical decision-maker can act on, and technical detail your engineers or your next supplier can work from.

What changes

Outcomes we are measured on

The point of the work, stated as results rather than product names.

01

A documented current state

What you have, how it is configured and where the gaps are — in writing, and yours to keep.

02

Findings ranked by what matters

Risk, effort and business impact for each item, so remediation can be sequenced sensibly.

03

Budget you can motivate for

Evidence to support a capital or operational request that would otherwise be a matter of opinion.

04

A baseline to measure against

A reference point so improvement over the following year is demonstrable.

Capabilities

What sits inside this practice

Capability areas we design, implement and support. Scope for any engagement is agreed and documented in writing.

How we deliver

A sequence, because order matters here

Each stage produces something you can review before the next one starts.

Agree scope

Which area, which systems and which sites — fixed in writing, with a fixed fee.

Gather

Read-only data collection, configuration review and interviews with the relevant people.

Analyse

Findings assessed against good practice and against your own risk tolerance and obligations.

Present

Written report issued and walked through with your team and decision-makers.

Questions

The things people ask before signing anything

Data gathering is read-only and designed to run during business hours without impact. Anything that could affect performance is scheduled and agreed with you beforehand.

No. The report is written so that your internal team or another provider can act on it. Many assessments are commissioned specifically to inform a tender.

A single-area assessment for a mid-sized environment is usually one to three weeks from data gathering to report, depending on estate size and access.

Yes, though we generally recommend starting with one. A combined assessment produces a long list; a focused one produces a list that actually gets actioned.
